The historic heart of medieval Prague is Prague Old Town (Staré Město), centered on one of the most beautiful squares in Europe – Old Town Square (Staroměstské náměstí). It is constantly crowded with visitors enjoying impressive display of Gothic and Baroque architecture, and some of the most iconic sights of the city, including the Old Town Hall Tower, the Astronomical Clock, the Municipal House and the Jewish Museum of Prague.

Full-Day Private Prague City tour: Prague Castle and Vltava River CruiseThe original Old Town was separated from the outside by a semi-circular moat and wall, connected to the Vltava river at both of its ends. The moat is now covered up by three streets Revoluční, Na Příkopě, and Národní. These streets remain the official boundary of the commune of Old Town.

The Old Town is surrounded by the New Town of Prague and across the river Vltava connected by the Charles Bridge is the Lesser Town of Prague (Czech: Malá Strana). The former Jewish Town (Josefov) is located in the northwest corner of Old Town heading towards the Vltava.
