Loughcrew Cairns

Relatively near Oldcastle, County Meath this area of great historical background has been known as Loughcrew Cairns or Lough Crew. The hills there are accessible to people in historic times and sit on top of ancient megalithic tombs. “Giant” tombs is a useful approximation of “megalithic”. The highlands and old graveyards of Slieve Calliagh are together known as Calliagh’s hills and are the highest point in Meath.
