Lago Escondido (Spanish for “Hidden Lake”) is a hamlet and lake in Argentina’s Tierra del Fuego Province’s Ushuaia district. It had a population of 71 in 2001, up from 46 in 1991.

The communities, which rely primarily on timber and tourism for survival, are located 57 kilometers north of Ushuaia. In the area, there is a large sawmill and timber operation.

Forests and rugged mountain ranges surround Lago Escondido. The lake on which the settlement is located (and which bears the same name) changes color depending on the amount of sunlight it receives.
